The EA208 is the swivel model in the Eames Soft Pad Group — the only chair in the trio to combine armrests with a rotating base, making it the natural choice for those who want the full Soft Pad experience at a desk or dining table. It shares the slim aluminium frame of the Aluminium Chair but adds stitched, padded cushions for a softer, more generous seat, retaining the graphic precision that made the original Eames design iconic.
In the early years of production the cushions were filled with down feathers. Vitra later switched to foam for improved longevity and a deeper sink-in feel — a change that raised the seat position slightly. The ‘new height’ option sits two centimetres lower to restore the original seating position.
Vitra provides a 30-year guarantee on all Soft Pad Group chairs.
